Tune-Up Newsletter
This newsletter
provides small business with information and advice on how to make your
technology produce profits. We focus on internal systems (networks and
software), external systems (web and email) and marketing (traditional
and e-marketing).
What
About Your Network?
You lock your doors at night, right? Of course! You regularly backup
your data on tape, right? Of course! But do you? Would you believe that
over 50% of tape backups fail to restore? Which means they didn't backup.
It's true. There are lots of reasons why, but the important thing to
remember is to simply test restore monthly. This is the quickest way
to identify a problem before it can hurt you. There may not be three
more important words than test restore monthly.
Is Anybody
Out There Listening?
A more and more important way to improve the ROI of your web site is
through the use of AutoResponders. An AutoResponder is an automatic
email message visitors to your site can request by simply entering their
email address. It automatically sends the requested information. It's
a good way to encourage interactivity on your site and to get information
with your name and address on it onto someone else's computer. Plus,
most AutoResponder services are inexpensive to add to your current email
service.
On Oral
Hygiene and Marketing. . .
If your dentist can remind you to do something as simple (and important)
as brush your teeth, we can remind you to make sure your URL (web site
address) is on everything you put in front of customers and prospects.
Before you dismiss this reminder, remember we mean every thing. All
your printed marketing materials and ads, of course. But how about your
fax cover sheet, invoice, statement, packing slip, product packaging,
printed announcements, instruction manuals, trade show booth and telephone
message on hold? Brush every day and put your URL on every thing.
